Do I need to program or calibrate this throttle body after installation?
Yes, in most cases. Modern vehicles equipped with Electronic Throttle Control (Drive-by-Wire) require an Idle Air Relearn or Throttle Position Calibration procedure after a replacement is installed. If this step is skipped, your vehicle may idle too high, surge, or trigger a "Check Engine" light or limp mode. You can typically find the manual key-on/key-off relearn procedure for your specific vehicle online, or your local technician can perform it using a standard OBD2 scan tool.
Does this throttle body include the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and idle control actuator?
Yes. If you are purchasing a modern electronic throttle body, the TPS sensor and internal actuator motor are fully integrated into the assembly housing and are included exactly as shown in the listing photos. For older, cable-driven mechanical throttle bodies, please review the photos to see if the external bolt-on sensors are included.
Will this throttle body fit my car if the engine size is different but the model name is the same?
Generally, no. Manufacturers design throttle body bore diameters, wiring harness plugs, and mounting bolt patterns to match specific engine displacements. For example, a throttle body for a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine will not fit or flow correctly on a 3.5L V6 version of the exact same vehicle. Always match the engine size (Liters or cc) alongside your year, make, and model.
Why does the intake bore or valve flap look dark or dirty in the photos?
Because these are genuine, used OEM parts, minor carbon buildup or dark residue around the internal butterfly valve plate is completely standard from normal engine operation. To ensure optimal performance and a smooth initial idle, we highly recommend spraying the intake bore with a dedicated throttle body cleaner and wiping it down gently prior to physical installation.
Are the mounting bolts, gaskets, or intake plenum seals included?
No. This listing is for the throttle body assembly housing only. Factory mounting hardware, brackets, rubber gaskets, or O-rings are not included unless explicitly pictured in the product photos. For a leak-free seal, we always recommend purchasing a inexpensive new replacement gasket rather than reusing the old one.
Is the coolant bypass port clear and undamaged?
Yes. Many factory throttle bodies feature small metal tubes designed to route engine coolant through the housing to prevent freezing in cold climates. We thoroughly inspect all units to ensure these ports are completely clear, unbent, and free of corrosion or internal blockages.
